Several weeks ago, we went to the Kennett Holiday Parade. I was all pumped up, hoping Devan would have a great experience like I used to at the Corvallis Parade. Ahhhh.... such fond memories..... :) A huge parade with lots of candy, Santa comes to town, and walking to the Courthouse singing carols as the tree lights up.... :) :) :)
But.... this parade was lame. With a capital L. L-A-M-E. Get it? Got it? Good! The good thing, is that Devan had fun. He doesn't know the difference. But we waited about 45 mins for the parade to start (but we had a great seat!). Now, I do have to say they did a good job keeping the croud entertained while waiting. They had Christmas music playing from speakers all over, they had a clown, and some dancers. But when the parade finally started, it lasted 15 minutes!! Only a handful of participants. And then Santa came, but he was going so fast that Devan missed him! And he only got one tiny candy cane. Nobody threw candy. And a few tractors with lights on them was the highlight of the night.
Afterwards, everyone walked down a block to the tree, which is in an alley so we couldn't see the tiny thing, and the tree lite up. Wow. Riveting. Show's over folks, have a good holiday! Bah humbug!
Whelp, at least we don't have to wonder anymore. Now I can try and find a parade in another city to try out next year! Poor Dustin.... ;)
