New Years Eve Party

Today we went to a New Years Eve party at the library.  It started at 11am.  Ms Terry read a long story and talked about New Years resolutions.  Then on to crafts!  Again, there were 4 stations.

This one, you had to add up the numbers on the dice in each letter and color it the right color.  This took a long time.  Not because he couldn't count the numbers, but because he was taking a long time trying to stay in the lines of each letter.  A good exercise for him.  But Lexi was antsy.
So I plopped her by our stuff with her Cheerios and sippy cup :)  Which, by the way, she decided she liked sippy cups the other night.  Hooray!!!  And now she can use both the hard tip and the soft tip.  I'm so excited!!!  Now I don't have to worry about her being dehydrated and monitor her intake.  She's already had a cup and a half today :)
The next craft was using 3D glittery glue to make fireworks.  But by the time we got to that table, the glue was about gone and Devan didn't have the patience to squeeze really hard to get it out.  So, we moved on.  Fine by me.

Next, we made our own crown to wear today and tomorrow.  But, Devan didn't want me to write "2013" on it.  So he just took glitter glue and made blobs.  And then did something with the pen.

Now, it's almost noon and we're getting ready for the countdown.  Each kid got a handful of confetti.  They did a countdown and threw it in the air yelling "Happy New Year!"  And then everyone got a glass of "champagne" (aka sparkling apple juice).  Devan took one drink and was done.  He didn't like it.  LOL.

The last craft was the kid was supposed to write their own resolutions.  But we were on borrowed time with Lexi as it was already past her nap time and she was hungry.  So I told him he could quickly color the picture and we'd take it home.  That satisfied him.  Whew!

Devan told Ms Terry thank you and she said "Thank you for coming Devan.  Happy New Year.  See you next week at story time!"  Another great event at the library :)

More sledding

More sledding!  This was taken yesterday afternoon.  Sam and his dad were out and Dustin and Devan went out to join them.  They went down the big hill!!!
This video was taken today.  Grant and Finn are back in town!  So I sent Devan out to play with them.  Grant was really good about giving Devan a push.  He went down the big hill all by himself!  (Although in this video, Grant is on the sled with him).  I think he'll be ready for the 100ft slip-n-slide next summer :)

Snow!

We got our first real snow of the season.  About 3 inches.  Enough to go sledding and build a huge snowman.  It was perfect snow!  Devan spent a couple hours out in it.  Dustin and I took turns playing because Lexi doesn't have any real snow gear, and she was having "one of those days".
Hat, snow pants, and boots

All set!  Can we go outside now???
Devan's first experience with a sled.  We got it from a neighbor friend who Devan plays with all the time.  It's their old one from a couple years ago when their boys first started sledding.  Devan took to it really fast!  Last year he wouldn't even sit on the sled.  Maybe the next snow he will go down the big hill with the big kids!

Taylor had fun chasing Devan on the sled

Catching Up

It's been almost a week since Christmas now...  We've been very busy!

We've painted the kitchen, laundry room, living room, dining room, 2 bathrooms and have started on the ceilings.  No more teal and pink walls, and yellow ceilings!!!  Yahoo!!!!  And now we're working on getting blinds on the windows.  Yay for neighbors not being able to see us at night :)

Blackberries are delicious!  (and they turn my face purple!)

For Christmas, Devan got some hot cocoa with marshmallows.  His first experience.  He didn't really like it, but he was determined to get the marshmallows.  So after nursing it all day he finally hit the bottom and sucked up the marshmallows.  Silly kid :)

hugs!

Thursday, the Gooch's came over for the day.  It was SO nice to just hang out and catch up.  Grace and Devan played really well and entertained themselves the whole night.  The craft room was a disaster, but they came up with some great stuff!  Grace is so creative and does a really good job about encouraging Devan to think outside the box, and is also really good at helping him do what he wants.  Lexi was good also, just walking around trying to keep up with them.  We had a big Mexican spread for dinner, complete with margaritas :)  Delish!  Oh, how I miss them.....  Hopefully we'll see more of them as they're moving a little farther north!
And here's a video of Devan helping daddy install can lights.  He did really good pulling the wire through :)

Christmas

Christmas day: Devan comes running into our room at 7:30am yelling that Santa has come!!  Later than I expected- I'll take it!  He patiently waited in the "homework room" doing stickers and coloring until we drug ourselves out of bed.  Lexi?  She didn't know any different and she slept until almost 9!
I think Santa left this for me.  It has my name on it.

Santa brought me a giant cookie!  But daddy, you don't get any because you didn't write him a letter.  But mommy gets a little because she helped me.  LOL.

Yes, he's eating the little one.  It is Christmas, after all :)  Aren't we the best parents ever???  :)

Our snow is melting :(

Sooo.... I'm NOT supposed to sit on these???  But they look like pillows!

Is there a dog in there??

Here Lexi, let me open your presents for you.  You're taking too long!!!

I love clothes.... I love clothes.... I love clothes... :)

It took her HOURS to finish, but she ate the WHOLE rawhide!

And Skeeter enjoyed his present :)
