Father's Day Weekend

Father's Day weekend was great. Went to our neighbor's for an impromptu BBQ. Good food, beer and rowdy kids :) Devan ate a whole hamburger and half a hot dog! Needless to say, he didn't eat much on Saturday!

Saturday was a productive day. We got a lot done around the house. Trying to tie up loose ends before we take off for OR on Friday....

Sunday was a lazy morning. Devan and I made Dustin a funfetti cake Saturday night. An early Father's Day present :) After our lazy morning we finished our errands. Went to Target to get a birthday present for his "girlfriend" Bella who turns 2 on Saturday. We'll be missing her party so we had to shop for a present.

Devan loved the balls :)

Look how big THIS one is mommy!!!

And Devan had to stop to bounce the balls all over. ALLLLLL the toys in the aisle and he goes straight for the balls! Too funny!

Ruff Week

This pic sums up the week:

It was a rough week for all of us. Stressful in all aspects.

On Tuesday Devan woke up with a temp of 103.3!!! WHAT?!?!?! His whole body was on fire! (And yes I had to Google "how to take babies rectal temperature". I didn't want to put it in too far!) Gave him some Children's Tylenol (and yes I checked to see if it had been recalled before I gave it to him) and gave him a cool bath to try and bring his temp down and cool him off. He really didn't want to play in the tub. He just wanted me to hold him. So we laid in the water together for awhile. When we were done I was able to get a little yogurt in him and we rocked and watched a little Sesame Street. He shortly fell back asleep and took a 3 hr nap. Good for him! Fight that fever Devan!

When he woke up his temp was down to 101.6. Still high but much better. I can handle that temp. We spent the day cuddling. He'd grab a book and climb in my lap to read. When he was done with that book he'd go grab another and climb back into my lap. I know he felt bad but I really enjoyed my cuddle time with him :) As you know, he's not a cuddly baby at all. He'd rather be running around the house exploring. I was able to get a little food in him at 2:30. And he drank a little milk. Around 4 he fell asleep again for another 2 hours. Even though I was home with him, I was able to get some work done during his long naps, which was good. And after doing lots of research online I've determined that he's cutting 2 molars. His bottom gums were swollen and 1 side on the top was a little swollen.

Wednesday his temp was 102, but I couldn't miss another day of work. So I packed his bag for daycare with Tylenol, binkie, and canned baby food. He really won't eat much real food so I figured baby food is better than no food.... It was hard to leave him with Nonie, knowing that he doesn't feel well. But turns out he had a pretty good day. Ate all his food and did some playing. At least she didn't have to hold him all day! Yay! He's getting some of his spunk back :)

Wednesday night his temp was down to 100.6 and Thursday morning it was back to normal. Still no molars though, but his gums are still swollen and he's still struggling with some foods- like his favorite Cheerios.

Devan is back and with a vengeance! I think he saved up all his energy the past couple days and is now using it. He's just been bouncing off the walls and getting into EVERYTHING!! He's BAAAAAAAACK...................

Lake Chesdin

Saturday we went to Lake Chesdin with our neighbors. It was a perfect day- warm but not humidity. We got there early to enjoy the cool morning before it got blazing hot. We got our beach and were in the shade until 1pm. We usually only spend half a day on the lake because Devan gets too tired and won't take a nap. So we end up leaving. But this time he actually took a 30 min nap :) And Devan did fantastic the whole day! He even spent a lot of time in the water!!! I think it was because Lauryn was swimming and he wanted to do it too :)

It took him awhile to warm up, but once he saw everyone playing in the sand, he decided to join too. Dustin, Leonard and Lauryn were working on building a lagoon for Lauryn to sit in. And then Devan decided he wanted to help too.

After Lauryn got tired of her lagoon, Devan decided it was his turn to sit in it.

Devan getting braver and actually sitting in the water:
We all spent a lot of time floating around the cove. Taylor swam and swam and swam her little heart out. She wouldn't sit and take a break on the beach so we'd have to hold her while out floating so she could rest. She'd swim up to you and put her front paws on your shoulder, wanting you to hold her afloat for awhile.
Finally Devan crashed. He fell asleep on Dustin in the beach chair and then got him to lay on a towel in the shade. So peaceful...
Lauryn, Leonard, Dustin and Taylor out swimming. And where were Carrie and I? Enjoying a drink and lounging on our boats :)
About 3pm a severe storm warning came over the radio so we had to pack up and leave (along with everyone else). Pretty cool to see the exodus of all the boats and jet skis. But we didn't have to wait long before we could retrieve the boat. Most people were headed to the Marina and we were going to the free public boat ramp.
It was such a perfect day! We all had so much fun and couldn't have asked for anything more (except for maybe NOT having Leonard throw granola into the lake next to us- those fish nibble at us too!). Love boating with the Eglands!!!! :o)
Devan was worn out after the long day of playing and swimming. So cute when he's sleeping....

Memorial Day Weekend

Saturday we were on "Devan time". Let him walk everywhere- car to store, around store, store to car.... Took a loooooong time, but it was great! A perfect family day :) Went to the Farmer's Market but got there too late- vendors were packing up. Next Saturday for sure! Had some errands to run, but weren't rushed. Devan led the way and did a great job. He walked around the store and didn't touch anything!

Sunday we went boating for half a day. Got up early and were in the water by 10am. Wanted to get there and leave before it got too hot. We got to Lake Chesdin just in time to get our beach. Within 20 min the lake was a busy place. Devan got brave and went in the water a little. The water here is a little colder than at the gravel pit. And we were in the shade. And the waves were kinda scary. But he did pretty good. By the end of the summer he'll be loving the water :)

Sportin' his new swim trunks:

Taylor's laying in the water taking a break from all her swimming (haha! Kinda looks like she's peeing in the water- which she did several times)
Devan took over my chair :(
Back home and very tired. He layed down next to Taylor for a quick cuddle :)
Monday we just hung around the house relaxing. There was a cute jingle on GMA and he started dancing. We've never seen him dance like this before so we changed the channel to one of those music only stations. We listened to "Toddler Tunes" and "Kidz Only".
Videos of him dancing:

His vocabulary has also dramatically expanded this weekend. Gurggle google nuh nuh da-lo gurggle... Walks around babbling all day. But at least everything isn't "da-da" anymore. Good to see new syllables :)
