Lexi activities & Devan schoolwork

Here's a pic after tumbling- the 3 amigas :)

Devan's school work.  (Not sure why this is upside down...)  He brings home a lot so I just try to post the more interesting ones, and ones where I can look back and see progress.  I've already noticed a huge improvement in the past 2 weeks.  (Must be why he's reverted back to him coming home exhausted and grumpy).  He used to make sentences like "A apple".  Now he says "I ate an apple when I got home from school."  (He has to make sentences using site words.)  He's also been coming home this week saying how he hates school and he's tired of it.  I think it's because he's finally challenged and he gets frustrated easily.  And because he's an introvert, he won't ask for help.  So he just sits and gets more and more frustrated.  Today he finally came home and said he had a fun day because they did lots of fun and different things related to Halloween.  He brought home a giant stack of paper with Halloween themed work sheets.  It's the same stuff he's been doing, but maybe it was fun because it was Halloween???  I don't know.....  But it's makes me sad because he's always loved school and now he says he hates it...

Site words
 Working on syllables

 Math
This was his progress report from 10/6.  No surprises there.
Lexi's craft after storytime at the library.  Colored the owl pieces, cut them out, glued them on, then cut and glued the "feathers".  It was a long long long process....  But she did it!
And, at Longwood (see previous post), she had to dig in the dirt and pick up a bunch of corn kernels that fell off the indian corn on display.  So we took them home, I printed off a coloring page, and she glued them on the cob.  Yay for free and spontaneous art projects!
Waiting for the bus on a rainy day: I had to sit at the window to see the bus coming up the street, and Lexi needed some entertaining :)

Pumpkins at Longwood

Oct 1 the pumpkins came to Longwood!  The children's garden is awesome this time of year, and they always bring in this giant pumpkin that costst them $10,000 (Seriously, it does.  And employee told us last year.)

 "I lub you pumpkin!"

 I love this picture :)

MDL Halloween Parade

Their costumes came in!  We tried them on right away.  Luckily, everything fit :)

 Sooooo excited!!!!

Then, on the 23rd, Devan had his Halloween parade at kindergarten.  They marched around the block and into the gym where they got goodie bags (items donated by parents, but no candy), followed by pictures on the stage for the yearbook.  He had such a great time seeing all his friends that aren't in his class.  They were super cute.  And what was amazing, was that there really weren't that many costume repeats.  There were so many great and different costumes there!
 Show me your muscles, super-kids!

 Lining up for the parade
Checking out the goodie bags once they got home

Harvest Moon Festival

The first weekend in October was the Harvest Moon Festival at Coverdal Farm.  Last year we sweated our booties off.  This year we froze our booties off :/  Dustin was headed to the airport, so I took the kids.  Even though it was cold, it was still fun.  We just didn't do the crafts in the shade :)

 Pumpkin hats
 Ring toss

Making a scarecrow.  Lexi was pretty worthless after the first two newspaper sheets she crumpled.  I thought that part would be fun for her.  But Devan was persistant and was an awesome helper!  He helped crinkle the paper, stuff the clothes, AND keep track of the bored wandering Lexi.  Haha!

 Are we done yet???
The kids named him "DAD", because according to them "he's wearing the same clothes that daddy does".
 Petting chicks

BINGO time!  And they all won prizes.

 Watching a cow be milked
 More crafts

The details he added were amazing!  This boy has come a long way since school started.
Turtle races!  The announcer was hilarious and all the kids were yelling and screaming for their turtles.  I think the winner was "speed bump".  LOL

Corn maze.  Devan was the leader.

Then we had a long walk uphill to the car (with me towing the giant scarecrow.  Such a funny site!
