I realized it's been awhile since I posted an update on Devan. And lately he's been impressing us more and more with his vocabulary... He has some of the funniest sayings!
- "Sunshine in my eye, Mommy. Stop it sunshine!"
- "Milk all gone?" "No, your milk isn't all gone." "There's more in there?" "Yes, there's more milk in your cup." (This is the common conversation with anything related to food or drink. It gets annoying because we repeat it over and over, but I know he's just trying to solidify the concept.
- "Daddy (put) my choo-choo away." "Are you tattling on Daddy?" "Yeah...."
It's funny what he picks up on:
- Sometimes we slap our leg when we call Taylor to come. So he started doing that and also does that when he's calling us to come!
- And he now tells Taylor to stay. But also tells us to stay when he'll be right back.
He's really impressed me with his vocabulary. We were looking through books yesterday and he would say things like "Elmo reading book", "Where's Abby's shoes?", "Hat on coat" (both hanging on a wall hook). Before he would say the items separately. But now he's connecting items to people and able to string the thoughts together :) And now he's able to distinguish between snack, lunch, and dinner (breakfast is still too hard to say). But everything used to be eat or snack. And he likes to ask the question "Daddy plate all gone? Daddy dinner all gone?" "Is more on there?"
And a good sign that he's trying to learn more words is that when he asks what something is and you tell him, he tries to repeat the word back. He used to just say "oh" and then ask you again.
He's also obsessed with fruit snacks (and when he says this, it's the cutest thing ever!). These are special treats for him.
His new phases that we hate:
- He doesn't like to get his hair wet. This used to be just in the pool or on the lake, but now it's in the bath too.
- He likes to whine about everything
- He wants help with everything, even though we know he can do it. This can be from getting up off the floor to putting his train tracks together. "I need help Mommy" (and this is usually in a whiny voice).
On a positive note, he's been telling us he went potty right after doing it! A huge step! And when I get him in the morning the first thing he says is "I wet Mommy" and we change his diaper right away. So yesterday he spent some time running around without any clothes on. We had several accidents but he told us he went potty (although it was right after and not before). But we spent a lot of time reading on the potty. His favorite book yesterday was Dr. Seuss's "The Foot Book". I think this is because we get to swing our feet around and be silly... "Left foot, left foot, right foot, right. Feet in the morning, feet in the night. Up feet, down feet, here come clown feet...."
