Last baseball game.... :(

Saturday was Devan's last baseball game.  Technically, we're missing the last one because we'll be in OR.  So for him, it was the last one.  We also got his pictures (which are finally good this year!) and he got his medal.  On to D League next year!!!

At least she's using a stick to dig instead of her hands...

After game treat: Capri Sun and a rice krispie treat

Pete the Cat

Last week's storytime was a special one.  These 2 members of the Philadelphia Orchestra came for a special storytime.  They read the story "Pete the Cat" and played songs for each page.  The place was packed (of course mine were up front!).  It was awesome and they were great interacting with the kids.  It was nice to expose them to different kinds of music and everyone had so much fun!

And the best part?  We ran into 4 different people we knew!  And what's weird is that they all knew each other from different places!  What a small world.  Jen P I know from MOMS Club and we get together often with them (and her daughter Ari is in Devan's skating class).  And Jen H we know from Devan's tumbling class, but she knew Jen P from other HAC activities.  And then I ran into Maria (her husband works with Dustin), who also knew Jen H from a previous skating class.  So weird!!!!  I just LOVE this town- that every where we go we run into someone we know :)

So after the music, the kids played in the children's area of the library and we all got to chat for a long time.  So nice....
Later, we went for another bike ride, of course!  Her legs are getting stronger and after only a week she can get up the hill on her own!

Pool time with friends

Last week, Dustin was gone so we stayed very busy.  We had 2 baseball games, skating, dinner at a friend's house, swimming, Lexi's haircut, storytime at the library, and we went to the gym every day.  We didn't have much down time and for the most part the kids behaved :)

So, here are a few pics I snapped at the pool when we went with the friends.  Lexi is holding her new puddle jumper floaty that I talked about in a previous post.  Jen and I got to sit and chat after the first hour and a half of swimming.  The little girls (Lexi and Reese) were tired and hungry so they snacked while we chatted.  The boys (Devan and Eamon) kept right on swimming for another hour and a half.

We finally dragged them out of the pool- I was starving for lunch!

Inline Skating

Last week, Devan started his inline skating class.  He's been practicing around the house (of course) and had gotten pretty good.  Granted, he's VERY slow, but could maneuver and stay upright, which is huge!  He's taking it with his friend Ari, whose done it before.  There was a big group and 4 instructors.  More than half the class had already taken it so they were zipping around the gym doing other drills.  Devan was with the beginners and was getting frustrated because he kept comparing himself to the "pros".  I tried to tell him that all the beginners were in his area, and he was one of the only kids that weren't falling every 30 seconds.  But he still got upset because he wasn't first when they would go across the gym.  He will get better.  It took Ari 3 classes before she could zip around fast.  Too bad he's missing the next 2 classes because we'll be in OR....  But eventually he'll get there (and they play hockey games on skates, which he will love!)

All geared up and ready!
 Devan and Ari

 Go, Devan, go!
I didn't get many pictures because my phone died.  Next time!

He may not have been the fastest, but he can tie his shoes now!  Afterwards, Ari was getting upset and crying because she couldn't tie her shoes.  Devan says "I can show you Ari!"  So, glad we ended on a high note.

Lexi's first haircut

Last week, Lexi got her first haircut.  Now that she's 2 1/2 (Yikes!  Is she really that old already???), it was time for a cut.  It was so long and pretty, but she's a wild child and her hair was just so stringy.  It was gorgeous when you brushed it, but soon it was frazzled and didn't look good.  And I have no idea what to do with it.  That's why I've been doing lots of ponytails....

We went to this place in Newark that only does kids, called La Petite.  They do a lot of pampering parties for pre-teens.  I knew they would be good at handling a squirming 2 yr old.  What I wasn't prepared for was Lexi's reaction.  She sat in the chair and became a sobbing statue!  She cried and cried while I was talking to the hair stylist..  And once she started cutting she sat and scowled the whole time.

You can see some of Devan's cut- the short piece on the right side in the front
Before pic: so long!
 Ready?  Set....  CUT!!
We talked about what would work with her thin and semi-wavy hair.  She said it would be best to cut the back to even out the front stuff, and do some layers.  So that's what we did.

Now you can see the short pieces:

Look at those curls on the floor....

Once the cape came off, Lexi was all smiles.  She was beaming from ear to ear.  And even got hair perfume that smelled like cupcakes :)

And of course, both kids got suckers
We sat outside and enjoyed the gorgeous day, eating the suckers (they were NOT getting in the car with those things!)

Pretty hair....  She looks so mature now with her hair cut, and most days we don't even use hair ties or clips anymore.  Makes the morning hair battle much easier :)

Wilmington & Western Railroad

We finally made it on the train!  I've been wanting to take the kids ever since we moved here, but Lexi was small and still needed naps and snacks.  But this summer we don't need any of that.  And the best part?  The kids were free this particular day (June 1st).  Yippee!!!!  How can you turn that opportunity down?  You can't, and we didn't!

We got there at noon to pick up the tickets and found our seats.

The kids sat together and I got to enjoy the ride actually sitting with my hubby instead of across from him :)

Don't lose those tickets!  The lady needs to punch them....

We had a nice leasurly ride up into the White Clay Creek.  Along the way they talked about the history of stuff we were passing.  And people always waved to the train as we crossed roads and stuff.  The scenery was gorgeous!

At the end of the ride we stoppd and had a snack and checked out the river

Of course, she's playing in the dirt.... Hahaha

 Toot toot!  All aboard!
 Checking out the giant wheels

Back to civilization... Sigh...  It was nice while it lasted :)
