On the 7th, we went down to Newark for their annual Winterfest. They close off the main street and all the restaurants have specials. In the square they have cookies, hot chocolate, carolers, and Santa comes in a firetruck and magically lights the big tree. Usually, this is a Friday night. They also have a reindeer run that benefits Autism. But this year, the weather postponed it until Saturday night, so it was pretty deserted. Good for us! It was cold and we went a little late. But, we didn't have to wait in line long to see Santa. The kids watched the ice sculptor while I waited. It only took us 30 mins tops to get to the front. Devan was SOOOOO excited. He couldn't WAIT to see Santa and tell him what he wanted. Lexi wasn't sure though.
When it was our turn, Dustin tried to put her on his lap. She started screaming, so we settled for this pic. If you can see, she's still crying.
She's thinking, how do I get away from this scary man???
Devan was tickled to death and jumped right on his lap. And what did he want? Underwear, and socks. LOL. Oh, and a pony for Grammy. He didn't forget that because Grammy told Devan to let Santa know what she wanted. This Santa was great! He took his time and had a conversation with each kid, and he was actually funny! When he was done, Devan got upset because he forgot to tell him he wanted a bowling ball game. Luckily, we saw him again at school, and he didn't forget this time :)
After Santa we went over to check the progress of the sculptor.
A good, but cold, night. Hardly any crowds which is always good with the little ones :)
