First half of March

It's Dr Seuss' birthday!  That means Dr Seuss stories at story time and a cool Cat in the Hat hat :)

A nurse came to each classroom and talked to them about how germs spread.  They made this cool paper.  What a clever way to get the kids to think about germs!  (A hand with a tissue covering their mouth)

A warm night means dinner outside....
And doing our reading homework on the back patio :)
There was a stagecoach outside Lexi's classroom, so she got to sit in it.  How cool!
More veggies!  Bok choy, carrots, arugula, romaine, swiss chard, kale
My little helper!  She loves washing all the veggies and cutting up the carrots.  The purple ones are so sweet!  And the red ones have a softer consistency.

 Progress on their crystals
Lexi made owls in class.  They painted the bottom of their feet to make the owls.  Then used glitter for the snowflakes and crinkled paper for the branch.

 All ready for yard work

These little things are so cool.  Like stiff fuzzy balls that just stick together and you can make anything you want.

Devan was so excited when he came home today.  They did surgery in school (to make contractions).  They took 2 words, cut them down, and used band-aids to put them together to make a contraction.  How creative!  I especially loved the germ mask and his Doctor ID badge :)

 Lexi's writing is getting better.....
First game of spring season!  Go Diamondbacks!!!!  And, they won!  Whew!  What a stressful game but they pulled it out in the end :)  Devan did great at 3rd base this season.  I think that's his "home".  He has such a great arm and not many kids can throw it across the field accurately from 3rd to 1st.  And as the season went on he got more and more confident and even made several outs!

 Silly sock day at school

Lexi's school work.  It was about snails.  The first picture they made snail trails.

 Writing the letter "W"

Combining 2 words to make a new word
Just a typical storytime at home, with Skeeter haning on my lap
They had "Texas Day" at school.  Everyone dressed up like a cowboy and they celebrated everything related to Texas.  They even had a chili cookoff!  A couple parents from each class made chili and took them in.  Then during the event, all the kids went around and had tastings of chili and they voted for their favorite.  Devan actually tried chili!  He said he didn't like it, but glad he gave in to peer pressure and had some :)
They made a book full of all things related to Texas

 State flag
 State flower, the bluebonnet.

State bird, the mockingbird (these are the ones that ate all my grapes!)

 The state tree (pecan)

A little history (Davy Crockett and the Alamo)

 State mammal, the longhorn

 State insect, the monarch
Just hanging outside, enjoying the weather:
