Auburn Heights Easter Egg Hunt & egg dying

OK.... Prepare to be PHOTO BOMBED :) :) :)

(Dustin and Devan are running errands since it's raining and they can't work on the deck- and Lexi is napping.  So I'm taking the opportunity to update the blog!  Hip hip hooray!!)

The day before Easter, we went to Auburn Heights for their egg hunt.  We went last year and it was crazy crowded.  Not fun being squished like sardines all afternoon.  Plus Lexi was itty bitty and we had limited time out and about with her.  This year was MUCH better.  They limited it to 200 people (kids included), so we actually had an enjoyable afternoon.  And Lexi is older and we can push that afternoon nap back a bit if needed :)

Waiting in line for the train.  Lexi saw the Easter Bunny making his way thru the line and she had a close eye on him the whole time.  And then when he got close she started crying.  LOL.
I took Devan over to play on the train while Dustin held our spot in line (that was my job last year with Lexi)
He waited so patiently for those 2 kids to move so he could climb up the ladder :)

 Ding ding goes the train

 I just LOVE this pic!!!

I thought we would turn back time a little.....

Mommy and Devan this year on the train
Here comes the train!  Watch your arms and legs people.  Yes, they are actual steam engines (just mini) and they are awesome!!

We rushed off the train and got to Lexi's egg hunt area.  Luckily it had just started and the small kids are so slow we didn't miss anything.
Good thing we had practice at Milburn Orchards the other day.  She knew what to do this time :)

Whoops!  Don't dump the eggs out!

Waiting for the big kids (ie Devan now)
Daddy and Devan strategizing.  He told Devan to run to the middle and start there because all the other kids would start by the starting line and work their way inward.  Devan got really excited that he would get more eggs this way.

Hold up big boy.  They didn't say "GO" yet!  LOL
See how he's in the middle by himself?  Good job daddy!!
Lexi decided she would open her eggs while Devan was hunting.  SO glad they put chocolate in the eggs cause it's a great idea to have them sit in the sun for several hours... *sarcasm* :P

Now he's still in the middle and the other kids are finally catching up.
Check out the loot!  I don't think his basket could've held anymore

 Let's get some food!
Such a sweet pic :)
Old fashioned popcorn!  And hot chocolate!  And home made ice cream from the local creamery and farm!  Yumm.....

Then Devan wanted to check out the museum.  So we looked at old stage coaches, cars, etc.  and they had several crafts in there too.

 Devan made an Easter card
And wrote his name all by himself :)
We got home and he had to open all his eggs.  Think he's an organizer??  LOL.  Check out the rows of each kind of candy!

Hey, what's going on up here?

She LOVED opening the eggs, even if there wasn't anything in them.
 Look at all those stickers!

Mail for the kiddos from Nana and Papa

Now it's time to decorate some eggs!

We're dying eggs and what is Lexi doing?  Sitting on the stairs opening more plastic eggs :)

Goofing around with some bunny ears

She kept turning her head to the side like this.  I kept trying to get a pic but my phone was having a hard time focusing.  But you get the idea.

Devan pretending to eat a carrot like a bunny.  LOL
