Interesting Observation

So we were sitting at the dinner table last night chowing down. And we noticed something interesting... our portion sizes are now the same! My shrinking hubby is eating less, and I am eating more. We had to laugh.

I am SO proud of my man. He's lost 27 pounds in 2 1/2 months!! Just by tracking what he eats and his exercise. He's doing so good! And he's already reached his goal weight for when the baby's born. 4 months ahead of schedule! GO DUSTIN!!!! Now if we can only buy him some pants that fit.....

It's a boy!

So.... as most of you know, we had the BIG appointment last night. Everything looks normal. And we found out it's a boy :) Hooray!! He weighs 12 oz and is about 6 1/2 inches long from head to cute little bottom.

The ultrasound lady was different, and we didn't like her as much. Seemed to go through the motions and wasn't interested in showing us what everything was. And we're a little disappointed with the pictures we took home. So many of the same thing! Usually as they're measuring things, they'll print out pictures if it's good. But not her. She waited until the end to try and get some. Oh well....

She got measurements for everything- head, belly, length, heart chambers, spine, internal organs, etc. I was so amazed that we could see all the bones and some organs! The spine and ribs were the most prominent. Unfortunately, we don't have a picture of that... And the leg bones were so cool to see (even the knee cap!)

And she did show us different parts of the brain that were developing.

But I did come away with a souvenir. Don't you just love my bracelet??

He's stretching his hamstrings.... At the end he kept folding up into this position. Then the ultrasound technician would push on my belly to get him unfolded. He wouldn't stay that way long before you could see his legs working their way over his head again!

First smile caught on camera!!! Isn't he cute???

Profile picture. He definitely has my round head and lips/chin. Maybe my nose??

View of his "boy" parts... Think of him sitting on a glass table and you looking from underneath. You can see his little butt cheeks and thighs, and his boy parts (the computer cursor is pointing at it. No doubt it's a boy!

Week 20

Half way there already! Time's going by fast. Below is a pic from last night. Dustin says I've gotten a lot bigger within the last 4 days (but I think I'm just having a "fat day"). What do you think? A lot has changed in the last 3 weeks since the last pic posted...

The baby is now the size of a small cantaloupe in my mellon-sized belly. It now weighs 10 oz and is 6 1/2 inches long. Definitely getting bigger by the day :)

Some other changes I've noticed:
  • Constant stuffy nose
  • Frequent headaches (due to increased blood flow to the uterus)

  • Increased sweat production (even if I'm cold I still have sweaty pits. Ewww..... but don't worry, they don't smell- a plus!)

  • Decrease in body odor (yeah!!!)

  • More energy (for now)

  • Stronger nails

  • Faster hair growth (on my head- hee hee hee)

  • Occasional swollen feet (if I've been on them all day)

  • Increase in zits (booooo! I'm trying new beauty regimes as the products I used before no longer work, thanks to the changes in my hormones)

  • Hot/cold flashes

  • Some heartburn

Wow! Sounds like my body's pretty messed up! But these aren't so bad- just part of the process and you learn to adjust :) I'd say I've had it pretty easy, so I can't complain.

Thursday is the BIG appointment we've been waiting for!!! Stay tuned for ultrasound pics and..... the sex :) WhooHoo!!

The Mote House Tour: Enter at Your Own Risk

Since we started tiling the kitchen floor, our house has been a disaster! It's like a maze trying to walk around the house.

Now please join the group outside for the tour. It's about to begin.

Walking into the house we have 3 door and a dishwasher to your left. Right in front we have 2 dining chairs and a stove. And to your right we have the entry table.

Moving on into the dining room we have a washer and dryer to your right. Behind the washer and dryer we have the dining room table with all 6 chairs, and a toilet and pedestal sink. And to your left we have a kitchen island and a stove.

Once past these items, you can see the lovely tiling job being done by the handy homeowners. I think they deserve a round of applause.

Moving back the way we came and into the living room.... We have a beautiful fridge and eat-in table with 2 chairs. And don't forget the fragrant garbage can and dog bowls. Don't mind the dog, she's friendly....

Please take note of the beautiful frasier fir Christmas tree. For the holidays it will be moved to its original spot, where the fridge now is. Please ignore the dog food and the cat in his basket...

Ladies and gentlemen, this concludes our tour of the Mote household tiling project. We hope you enjoyed your tour and will come back soon. Please fill free to leave a donation on your way out, as they are now broke.....

Randoms

Here are some random pictures we've taken lately.....

Black Friday

Hello to all! Hope your turkey day was filling! We had a good one. Lots of food and Aunt Pat made the trek out to our house. I cooked a turkey (for the first time) and Dustin did an excellent job carving it. Potatoes, rolls, corn.... and for desert we had tiramisu and Reeces PB bars for Dustin.

Black Friday was the best ever! We had the best luck (thanks to Pat being with us, I believe).....

First, we went to Home Depot to get a fake tree ($200 for only $49). There were 6 left when we got there. As soon as we grabbed ours, they were gone. Dustin got his huge Rigid shop vac. (Thanks Pat for the early Christmas present!). And we grabbed a few of the quickly disappearing 99 cent pointsettas (thanks to 2 greedy ladies with 3 shopping carts full of them!).

On to JCPenny.... Dustin went home to unload the truck (yes, it was FULL of stuff from Home Depot). I had my eye on a wool peacoat that was only $50 (normally $200). And luckily I snagged the last one- and in a size small! Perfect! I toted it around a bit looking at other jackets, while a lady was hovering around me waiting to see if I'd get it (and boldly asking me for it). I decided to get it. Warmness!! Then waiting for Dustin to come back we saw the cutest baby fleece sleeper! Orange, yellow, and green polka dot with a bear on the chest and little bear feet! Had to get it! And a couple other onesies. Thanks again Pat for the early Christmas presents for me and the little one!!

Then on to Lowes. Dustin got his Dremmel he's been wanting (and used later in the day). And we got our Christmas tree. Usually we spend a lot of time picking through the trees trying to find the perfect one. But the first one we picked up was perfect! And it's 9 ft, but labeled as 7 ft! More money saved!

How much better could the day have gone??? Too bad the Beavers didn't play on Friday.....
