Bend, OR

We made it to BEND!!!!  Walked around town, ate some dinner, enjoyed the gorgeous weather :)

View from our hotel of the Three Sisters and Bachelor
What a beautiful day for a hike!  Green Lakes Trail outside of Bend.  9.5 miles round trip.  Starting elevation at Cascades Lake Hwy: 5200 ft.  Elevation at Green Lake at the base of Broken Top: 6600 ft.  Those kids hike UP 1400 feet!!!  It is such a gorgeous hike as you experience all types of wilderness zones.  From forests, to multiple waterfalls, to meadows, to obsidian flows, to scrub brush where nothing grows well because you're so high, to snow...  It definitely pushed them to the max but it was a wonderful family experience!

SNOW!!!!

This last little half mile is the hardest, and steepest.  And this is the only part that Dustin carried Lexi.  She did all the rest on her own :)

 First glimpse of Broken Top
Taking a leg break on the "cowboy tree".  Obsidian flow in the background

I see the lake!!!!
We made it!!!!  Green Lake (yes, it's actually GREEN) and Broken Top.  The lava that flowed from Broken Top created the obsidian flows that we hiked past.

Taking a rest break and eating some snacks
 It's FREEZING up here!!!

We were SO proud of them for doing this.  And they were proud of themselves :)  They pushed through the fatigue and difficulty breathing from the thin air and made it to the top.

Heading out to Oregon (again)

Heading out to Oregon again....  First night in Dallas.  Ate at a grilled cheese place.  Delicious!

A night swim so they will go to bed at a decent time
 Good morning sleepyhead :)

Went to "The Grand Canyon of Texas" (San Paulo Canyon).  After actually GOING to the Grand Canyon, this was a HUGE FAIL.  We were all disappointed.  LAME.....

Not many pictures as we went through a bunch of nothing....  We did see some buffalo in Colorado or Utah.... but other than that it was pretty boring.

Next stop.... Bend, Oregon for some family fun :)

Astros game and a visit with Orbit

Dollar dog night at Minute Maid Park...  Devan ate 3!!!!  We got to see Verlander pitch, which was exciting.  But, it was a very boring game as he had something like 13 strikeouts.  There were hardly any baserunners the whole game.  Glad they won but would've at least seen some great plays!

The next day, Orbit was at the library!!!!
