Plumpton Park Zoo

Also the week before school started, we went to the Plumpton Park Zoo.  I've never been but heard it was a good size for younger ones.  It was one of those things I wanted to do before school started, but just never got around to it.  Devan was bored though- very few big animals and they were in small cages.  Lext had a blast, and especially loved all the peacocks roaming around.  And me?  Well, I compare everything to the Portland Zoo, which trumps all of them, by far!  To be fair, we have yet made the trek to the Philly Zoo.  I'm hoping some day we'll make it there and it will be awesome (it better be for the price!).

 Feed me....
 Hot fox
 Petting deer

 Peacocks galore!

What is that silly animal?  It's almost like a bunny but with a head of a woodchuck....

Ever seen begging peacocks?  They would walk around the picnic tables and stare at you, waiting for crumbs.  Such a silly thing!

 And chickens!

"I hear him!  He say cock-a-doodle-doo! He lound in my ears!"

 One lonely monkey

 Hi Mr Turtle!
Poor Bison...  I'm not even going to go there.... (this place broke my heart)

 Silly tree roots

 And Jimmy the giraffe

I think these tigers are depressed.  Lexi says they're just taking a nap.

Time for some slides by the picnic tables :)

Tyler Arboretum

The last week before school started, we spent the day at Tyler Arboretum.  I really wanted to get to the butterfly house before they tagged and released all the monarchs at the end of the month.  And it was a nice day, so we packed a lunch and made the trek out to Tyler for a day of exploring.

We checked out the couple new tree houses.

 "I lub you Mr Frog!"
